Main goals
This study was commissioned within the framework of the PSAC (Agricultural Sector Support in Ivory Coast Project) and is part of PSAC’s 3rd component: “Modernization of the cotton sector and promotion of cashew processing”. This component supports the cotton sector’s revival program, and the improvement of the processed share
Specific objectives
- Provide the Government with measures allowing to develop a local cashew processing industry that is competitive on international markets.
- Assist PSAC Project’s Preparation Unit in choosing development incentives for the national cashew nut processing industry

Results
R1. The measures, organizations and the institutional framework for the promotion of the local cashew nut processing industry are developed
R2. The proposed measures’ impacts on public finances are assessed
A mapping of risks for the sustainable development of the cashew nut processing industry, as well as mitigation measures, are developed
R4. An action plan for the implementation of proposed measures is drafted

A1. Analyze the main constraints for cashew processing in Ivory Coast
A2. List and analyze measures implemented by India, Vietnam, Brazil and three African countries chosen to develop their cashew processing industry
