Main goals
Improve food security and living conditions of rural populations in Chad by supporting the activities of active local CSOs on chains promotion.
Specific objectives
Promote the expansion and diversification of the income of the rural population in Chad by better operating and creation of added value in the sesame / groundnut sectors and associated NTFP (cashew, shea) in a protected environment, including innovative approaches (ICT).
Beneficiaries
- Mainly 5000 producers, poor of sesame and groundnut
- 500 leaders of farmers’ organizations
- 50 producers’ organizations
- 20 processing units managed by women
Results
R1. Family farms (EAF) improve their technical and economic performance
R2. Better structured producers’ organizations provide effective marketing and a local farm advisory service
R3. Targeted sectors are more competitive, focusing on market needs and favorable to rural populations
Activities
A1. Training the family farms to sustainable production, marketing and management
A2. Encouraging the emergence of Professional Agricultural Organizations organized around a farm advisory meeting the needs of producers and result-oriented, and able to integrate members into grouped sales strategies
A3. Promote the sector to improve and increase the opportunities and creating value added due to processing
