The 1st biomass gasification self-production plant built by IED Invest in Africa soon to be operational!
The Agrogazelec project, carried out with the support of the French Global Environment Facility (FFEM), has enabled the adaptation of the technology used by IED Invest in Cambodia to the cashew nut shell, with a view to technology transfer and the development of the industrial sector in Africa.
A first pilot project, co-financed by the OCEF - Off Grid Clean Energy Facility of the Millennium Challenge Account - Benin II (MCA-Benin II), aims to process the cashew nut shells from the factory Tolaro Global in electricity to meet the needs of the factory, and thus improve the competitiveness of the local transformation sector and limit its impact on the environment.
The latest equipment for the gasification plant has arrived on site and the installation of the plant will start in the coming days.
Teams from Cambodia, Côte d'Ivoire and France will be mobilized to assemble the equipment and carry out the commissioning tests in early May.
Although the technology is relatively simple and robust, good control of operation and maintenance operations is the key to ensuring long-lasting and efficient operation. The future managers of the operation and maintenance of the Tolaro plant (4 engineers and technicians from Benin) went to Cambodia from March 14 to April 2 to train in operation within one of the plants operated by IED Invest, as part of the capacity building activities of the Agrogazelec project.
This training was provided by the Cambodian operating teams and the gasification support service of IED Invest for Africa based in Côte d'Ivoire.
