Switching cocoa from Côte d'Ivoire to Organic Farming, a simple formality?

More and more producers are getting involved, but technical and agronomic references are rare, generating stereotypical and unconvincing agricultural advice

Nitidæ has been involved for several years in the development of Fair Trade and Organic Agriculture sectors in West Africa. The development of organic cocoa in Côte d'Ivoire is particularly dynamic and more and more producers are engaging in this production method. Unfortunately, technical and agronomic references are rare, generating stereotypical and unconvincing agricultural advice. Noting in the field a strong disparity of production systems, Nitidæ is committed to a program (see project in link below) of co-construction with producers of solutions to develop cocoa cultivation in accordance with the standards of the Organic agriculture and allowing to increase the economic, agronomic and environmental performances of cocoa farming in Côte d'Ivoire (see document on the methodology linked below).

This program, using this methodology, is intended to be developed for other crops and in the countries of the sub-region, making it possible to build a learning network adapted to the needs of producers.

Don't hesitate to join this network!
