CACAOLIVE - Conduct a feasibility study for Ivory Coast’s cocoa replanting project

Main goals
Assess the overall relevance of the cocoa replanting project in Ivory Coast - Livelihoods Fund for Family Farming – as well as its feasibility, its organization, anticipated activities and budget
Specific objectives
The study will also provide elements for answering the questions raised at the project's identification committee with a view to its subsequent presentation to the AFD, in order to receive the grant
Beneficiaries
The cocoa replanting project aims for an area of 10,000 ha (about 6,000 farmers). It will be implemented gradually (pilot of 200 ha in 2017 - global objective of replanting 750 hectares between September 2017 and August 2018)
Results
** R1. ** Update and complete the information (in particular on the cocoa sector in Ivory Coast)
** R2. ** With project stakeholders, specify its content and implementation conditions (including detailed institutional set-up) with a view to optimizing impacts
** R3. ** Specify the comparative advantages and innovativeness of the AFD / Livelihoods partnership
** R4. ** Clarify the modus operandi and method of disbursement of funds to be provided by the PRCC
** R5. ** Ensure the complementarity of the project with other projects currently underway in Ivory Coast’s cocoa sector
** R6. ** Define monitoring and evaluation procedures with a view to promoting scalability
** R7. ** Make a specific assessment of environmental and social issues and risks
** R8. ** Evaluate the relevance / feasibility of proposed actions for young people and women and, where appropriate, propose improvements and / or additional actions

Holder of a Master of Science, "Agricultural Engineer and territories development" from the Institut Supérieur d’Agriculture (ISARA Lyon), he brings his expertise in agro-food/agricultural sectors' analysis and development, strengthening of supplychain actors (producers, private/public actors, agro-food industries...), socio-economic analysis of agricultural chains and his great knowledge of companies in these markets
