SPIRIT - Support for the sustainable development of the spirulina sector in Côte d'Ivoire as a lever for sustainable development

Main goals
The project aims the technical and structural support of the association ASF-CI for the promotion of the Spirulina sector. It aims to foster the emergence of local skills, sustainable activities, income generating and jobs through the production of Spirulina. The dissemination of the product will enable consumers, particularly the most disadvantaged, to improve their health and/or lifestyle and to fight against malnutrition
Specific objectives
- optimization of existing installations to improve production at the Azaguié farm
- technical training of producers/collectors for improved production
- support for marketing to establish a sustainable economic model aiming with a viable balance between local, national and international markets
- dissemination of spirulina to vulnerable populations, particularly in terms of food security
Beneficiaries
- Direct beneficiaries: about 400 directly trained people (apprentices, craftsmen)
- Consumers of spirulina: to fight against malnutrition
- Indirect beneficiaries: local authorities, multiplication of training by direct beneficiaries

Julien Gonnet
Holder of a Professional Master II in Sustainable Development from the University of Geneva and a Master I in Geography from the University of Jean Moulin, he brings his expertise in project and studies building and management on agricultural markets, the use of ICT within the agriculture sector, the implementation of certification (organic, fair...) and engineering training
